Plickers

Sharing Kindergarten: Assess for Success with PLICKERS App

What is Plickers?

Is a tool used as a form of formative/summative assessment. It is administered by the teacher who will give every student plickers cards that are embedded with their own shape to match with answers ABCD.  The teacher can create an assessment that will access student's prior knowledge and results will be shown on your I-phone and or Tablet. This will help the teacher understand what students know and still need to learn to help teachers modify instruction to meet their needs and help students modify learning. All the answers are unanimous but students can see their own results and see what they know.  All the results can be saved into your account and can be used for future references!

  1. Hi Nakota! This looks like an awesome interactive tool! You could laminate the answer cards to make them last longer, and save future printing/paper. I think students will love using the cards once you've shown them how to do it. Personally, I think it would be great for a pre-test to see what students know about a particular topic. This is an awesome classroom tech tool!

  2. Hey, Nakota, I enjoyed using this when you demonstrated for the class, and I have added this to my Project 6 in one of my later learning cycles. This would be great for pre, formative, and review assessments, and actually bringing your cell phone out is obviously an engaging factor for the students!

  3. Hey Nakota!
I am with Justin! I think plickers were a lot of fun when we did them in class. I thought it was crazy how easily the tablet/phone could pick up students' responses by just scanning it around the room. I think kids would love this. Anytime they get to use some kind of cool tech tool like this I feel like they are automatically more engaged. I am not sure if there is a way for teachers to see who answered what correctly/incorrectly but I think if they were able to see which students responded with what answer that would be really neat to know which students are "getting it" and which students are going to need a little extra help. I love this as a form of formative assessment. I think if this were used everyday kids may get bored with it, but with using maybe once or twice a week I think they'd love it!!
